The Indian Journal of Applied Medical Intelligence (IJAMI) invites original research, reviews, software and app innovations, short communications, and perspectives for its inaugural volume. We welcome work that connects computational intelligence with clinical practice — useful, reproducible, and relevant to patient care in India and beyond. Early contributors help shape the character of a new scholarly platform for our discipline.
What contributors get
- Open access: free to read worldwide; authors retain copyright under CC BY 4.0.
- Genuine peer review: double-blind, COPE-guided, with a target first decision within 21 days.
- Founding recognition: early authors are part of the journal's inaugural volume.
- Indexing pathway: the e-ISSN application follows Volume 1 Issue 1; DOI, DOAJ and UGC-CARE will be taken up at the appropriate time. Nothing is claimed before it is earned.
Software & app innovations are especially welcome
IJAMI offers a dedicated, citable home for validated medical apps, clinical calculators, simulators, and digital tools — work that rarely finds a fair place in traditional journals. Submissions in this category must state a working link or repository inside the manuscript, so that reviewers can examine the tool itself.
Rolling submissions
There is no fixed deadline. Manuscripts are welcome at any time and are considered for the next available issue once accepted through peer review. Submitting early means being considered for Volume 1.

An automatic check of what you have entered — abstract length, structure, keywords, and file. Full similarity screening is performed by the editorial office after submission; the acceptable limit is under 15% excluding references.

Editorial Board
The founding editorial board is being constituted. Invitations are open to academicians, clinicians, and health data scientists working at the meeting point of medicine and artificial intelligence.

The journal is pre-launch: there is no ISSN or indexing yet — that follows Volume 1 — and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise.

Reference and Styling Guidelines
We require all manuscript submissions to utilize the Vancouver citation style (numbered in-text citations referencing a numbered list at the end of the paper). Citations should include the DOI prefix whenever available.
Ethical Safeguards & Declarations
- AI Transparency: If any generative AI or LLMs were used during writing or formatting, this must be explicitly disclosed in the methodology or acknowledgement section.
- Ethics & Consent: Studies on humans or human data require Institutional Ethics Committee approval (number stated in the manuscript); clinical trials must be CTRI-registered. Patient identities must be fully masked, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and written informed consent documented where applicable.
- Similarity: Every manuscript is screened for similarity before review; the acceptable limit is under 15% excluding references.
- References: Vancouver style throughout, numbered in text.
- Open Licensing: All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0) license, ensuring complete, immediate open access without paywall restrictions.
Peer Review & Publishing Chronology
From submission to publication — every step, stated plainly. Double-blind review, two independent reviewers, target first decision within 21 days.
Manuscript Submission
The author completes the five-step submission on this site; the manuscript and its metadata reach the editorial office at editor@ijami.org. A temporary reference number is issued at once.
Editorial Screening
The editorial office checks scope, completeness, and ethics documentation, and screens the manuscript for similarity (acceptable limit: under 15% excluding references). Manuscripts outside scope or limits are returned without review.
Reviewer Assignment
Two independent reviewers are assigned by subject area — never from the author's own institution, with preference for a different state. Reviewer and author identities are mutually hidden.
Double-Blind Peer Review
Reviewers assess validity, methods, reproducibility, and — for software submissions — the working tool itself. Target first decision: within 21 days of submission. Decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.
Author Revision & Decision
Authors submit a point-by-point response to reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief verifies the revisions and issues the formal decision. Appeals go to the Editor-in-Chief.
Copyediting & Proofs
Accepted manuscripts are copyedited and typeset. Authors verify their name spellings, ORCID iDs, and affiliations on the proof before publication — exactly as they will appear in print.
Publication
The article is published open access under CC BY 4.0, with copyright retained by the authors. DOI assignment through Crossref follows once the journal’s membership is active.
Indexing Pathway & Archiving
The e-ISSN application (CSIR-NIScPR) follows Volume 1 Issue 1. DOAJ and UGC-CARE listing are pursued as the journal establishes, with digital preservation enrolled before the second issue. No indexing is claimed before it is earned.

What CC BY 4.0 means, in plain language
Anyone may read, download, share, copy, adapt, build upon, and even use a published article commercially — as long as they credit the original author and IJAMI. The one condition is attribution: name the author, cite the journal, and indicate if changes were made. Nothing more is required, and no permission needs to be sought.
